Let’s kick off this week with some pageant talk. I have the pleasure of representing the state of New Jersey in this year‘s Mrs. America pageant. In a little over a week I will be traveling to Las Vegas Nevada to compete. So it hit me, I should not only share my experiences and this journey with you all I also wanted to share the many ways I prepare for this pageant. Today I am going to list my complete and detailed pageant checklist. This will include everything a pageant queen will need while competing or traveling to compete in your next pageant. I also have a FREE downloadable for you to use as well.
As a Mrs. competitor and because of the fact that my pageant is going to be a little over 10 days in total I will have more than one suitcase while traveling to nationals. For me, this will include multiple outfits for rehearsal and pageant appearances. It will also include tons of evening wear, gown accessories, shoe options, and if you are new here plenty of hair extensions. As a hairstylist, changing my outfit also includes changing my hairstyle. Wigs and extensions for me is a must-have item for me.
How Do You Use Your Pageant Checklist?
I currently have 3 suitcases in my office opened and ready to organize. So before I place anything in my suitcases I map out my entire outfit. This includes shoes, accessories, and if I’m in the mood hair extensions. I’m serious about my hair lol. Once each look is complete I will place the outfit in a garment bag. I love these inexpensive ones from Amazon. I also use garment pages for my evening gowns and for my upcoming pageant I will be traveling with 5 gowns. Yes, you read that correctly. I use a heavier garment bag for these which is also from Amazon, HERE. It makes it easier to pack all the essentials with my gowns so I can see each piece. This will also make show day and packing to go home a breeze. Trust me.
For all of my daily outfits for rehearsals, I decided to pack light. Since my pageant will be in Las Vegas which has warmer weather year round. I kept most of my pieces to knits and cotton. Still very stylish, yet comfortable to move around in.
When it comes to packing, cotton material is so simple. You can roll your items up like a towel and fit everything in one suitcase. This has saved me so much space. I also am making an effort to only bring 3-4 pairs of shoes. I’m trying my best, but this is hard for me. I love shoes.
Now, let’s get to our MUST-HAVES
Before we get into my recommended packing necessities I want to let you know that of course this list was created specific to my needs. Additionally, this list is subjective because my pageant competition has more than one category of competition. So when I compiled this list I tried to keep it very specific to the basic necessities however depending on your level of competition and the system you decide to compete in your list of must-haves will vary. KEEP SCROLLING, I have a PRINTABLE list for you.
