It has literally taken me almost 2 full weeks to sit down and write this post. It seems that my life is in a consent state of motion and I’m trying my best to live in the moment. If you have not already heard… I completed my first-degree program at Rowan College. I have my associates degree in Liberal Science. I cannot be any happier at this moment and as I stated previously, I am trying my best to live in the moment. This has been such a long road for me and it was not a simple task. I started this process back in 2012 and since then I have given birth, opened a hair salon, given birth again, and opened up a fashion boutique. To stay I have a lot on my plate would be the understatement of the year. During this time, I have taken extended breaks from my educational journey and it has not been easy picking up where I left off. To be in the mindset of studying and writing papers you must have the frame work mapped out. Typically, my mind is in create mode where I’m thinking of hairstyles and fashion styling. At times, I can be overly ambitious and this often causes me to burn out. This past semester was a prime example of this. I was ready to say fu*k this… Seriously, I was just exhausted and needed a break. I still need a break but I’m working on the next degree. During this time, I really took a step back and did a lot of praying a soul searching. I am aware that I can often be my worst enemy as I am extremely motivated, thus I want to finish every project, meet every sales goal, and continue to be cute while doing it all. If you guys could have seen me during finals week you would laugh at that last statement, ya girl was looking rough lol. I digress, my goal is and always will be to motivate someone to follow their dream. Not only to follow that dream but also to walk in your destiny.VIEW POST
Product Review Of The Coco & Eve Hair Masque
Coco & Eve Coconut and Fig Masque
Short on time but your hair needs some serious attention? This describes me 95% off the time and it doesn’t seem like I’ll have any spare time coming up any time soon. When I heard there was a deep conditioning mask I could use on my hair in under ten minutes I knew I had to give it a shot. Today I want to share with you the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque. This masque features coconut and fig to help tame and hydrate the hair. This winter my hair has been extremely dry and I need the extra boost of hydration. Today I wanted to share with you my results after using the hair mask as well as how I achieved this silk press hairstyle. My hair is natural which means I do not put any chemical straighteners in my hair. So, the silk press technique will give you that straight look without the damage associated with chemical straightening.
Results:
After using the Coco & Eve masque the one thing I noticed immediately after was my hair wasn’t as frizzy. The mask comes with a cute pink tamer brush and I used it to detangle my hair as well as help spread the masque evenly on my hair strands. After applying the masque, I let it sit on my hair under a plastic cap for 15 minutes. Now I know you only need to let it sit for ten minutes but I was in the process of getting ready to start my day and the extra time was well needed. The secret to deep conditioning the hair is to rinse the product out with cool water. This helps the conditioner stay in the hair shaft so your hair maintains the moisture longer.
Below I have a full demo video and tutorial on how I achieved these results. Let me know if you can see the difference in how my hair looks before and after. If you would like more information on Coco & Eve click HERE. If you want to learn more about growing your hair THIS article is for you also.
Dermalogica SkinCare Product Review
Ok, let’s get our skin care regime in check shall we!
Over the last couple of weeks I have been fortunate enough to test out some new skin care products. Dermalogica was gracious enough to send me a complete skin care regimen and I have been testing it out on my skin ever since. One thing I don’t think I will ever get tired of is new skin care products and shoes. I mean because they are equal right? Nevertheless I have been testing out the complete system and today I want to give you my thoughts on each product. If you are new here to my blog I’m just going to give you a little backstory on my skin type. So that you understand the bases of my review today. I am acne prone and I experience hyper-pigmentation quite easily. I’m typically oily in my tea zone and I also have dry patches on certain spots of my face. This is typically seasonal but there nonetheless. I must be careful with the products I use because I can end up looking like a pizza face complete with toppings in 24 hours, and honey that is not cute! So without further ado let’s jump into today’s product review as I break down each product.
Dermalogica Product Break Down:
Dermalogica PreCleanse: I typically use the pre-cleanse on days that I film my YouTube tutorials or when I wear makeup to and event or a special occasion. It was a great way to break up the make up before I would use the special cleanser to wash my face. If you use a makeup removing wipes then this step is not necessary.
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel: Right after using the pre-clease to break up the make up I would apply the special cleansing gel to my face with my Clarisonic face brush. I felt that I got a deeper clean while using the brush versus using only my hands. This cleansing gel did not dry my skin but I feel that it works best after using the pre-clearance to remove make up. My skin felt cleaner, maybe the double cleanse works best with this system.
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: This product is by far my favorite of the entire collection. I love that I was able to exfoliate my skin every day without any sensitivity. This exfoliate is rice-based so it gently removes dead skin and debris from the surface of your skin. It also helps me with cell turnover and I noticed that when I apply my moisturizers he didn’t sit on top of the skin as they usually do prior to using this product.
Dermalogica Replenishing Oil: I would say I have a love-hate relationship with the replenishment oil. The bottle applicator I was not too fond of as I had to shake it in order to get the product to dispense from the bottle which for me was a bit cumbersome especially when they recommend you mix the Replenishing Oil and Active Moist together. Also it did take a couple of minutes for the product to penetrate my skin versus other facial oil’s that I have so I did notice a difference. I will say that the replenishing oil did hydrate my skin. But you have to be consistent with applying the oil each night and in all fairness I did not apply the oil each night.
Dermalogica Active Moist: This was my least favorite product out of the collection. As a facial moisturizer I didn’t feel it held up to the standards of the other products. Now as recommended I did combine the Replenishing Oil and Active Moist to my skin at the same time for a better nightly moisturizer. The active moist on its own did not deliver the results I was looking for. This is a very lightweight moisturizer so I believe it works great under your make up however for my nighttime regimen it was not moisturizing enough.
Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer: This facial primer applied to the skin very smoothly and it did help to blur my pores. Remember I am acne prone so my pores are quite large. I was able to see a noticeable difference after applying the hydra blur. However, I am not able to use it solely on it’s own. I did try to use it one day and my make up only lasted for about two hours before I started to notice it moving around on my skin. For my skin type I would recommend combining this facial primer with a matte based facial primer or spray. Update 6/13/17. I have been using this primer just to smooth out my skin without makeup and it erases my pores. It still doesn’t leave me matte however mixing it with another primer does the trick.
Conclusion:
Pros: My skin is noticeably more radiant and hydrated. I’m experiencing less breakouts and the dry patches around my nose and temples have disappeared. Also I must mention, with the use of the replenishing oil my skin hasn’t been as oily. My favorite product from the entire collection has to be the Daily Microfoliant. I fell in love with this product the first night I tried it. It took me a while to understand the concept of a powder like exfoliator but once I applied the product and rinsed it off skin was soft to the touch and not irritated. This is a wonderful product for acne prone skin like mines. Gentle and effect.
Cons: I was not that impressed with the Active Moist moisturizer, I have other products that I feel moisturizer my skin better and are less expensive. Moreover, the Hydrablur primer was also a hit or miss for me. Since I have oily skin this primer would be reserved for the evening. In combination to my matte finishing spray I was able to get great results but alone it wasn’t enough to get me through the day.
Retail Prices: Dermalogica PreCleanse $42, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel $37, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant $55, Dermalogica Phtyo Replenish Oil $75, DermalogicaActive Moist $38,Dermalogica Hydrablur Facial Primer $47

Crochet Braids: FLIP OVER METHOD
Crochet Braids:
One of my favorite styles. It’s also a great way to incorporate different textures and colors to the hair without damage. So for me this is my go to hairstyle when I want to switch it up. I have been wanting red hair again for a couple of weeks and I did not feel like coloring my virgin hair extensions to get it. So I decided crochet braids would be my best option. One thing I like to do to my hair is experiment. As a cosmetologist I try to find different ways to reinvent the wheel so to speak. So today I will be showing you how I came up with this “Flip Over” method with crochet braids. I love the results of this technique and it’s a great way to protect your hair further while wearing crochet braids.
